Upside down world

As I am getting ready for work today, I hear the news that in Japan the day is already over (and their stock market did whatever). Now, I have nothing against the Japanese who have been working hard as can be and thriving (it is even moral, one could say, that hard work be rewarded), but what is the world coming to, and how do you want me to feel like going to work in this depressed economy, with the budget cuts, the layoffs, etc., if even the Japanese stop working before I have started my day?

Global village, global recession, one would have hoped for a little help from our friends and their staying at work just like we do instead of going home when we are on our way there... Depressing!

And while I am glad that the young Germans don't want to make war any more, I am not as glad to know the Japanese go home when I go to work (even if it is better than going to war, I know). It still is an upside down world, no doubt (and it's not over yet). (and, yes, I also know I should not complain, I still have a job...)

the past & the present

The past is never just the past, it always is in the present

The Sister's Fancy

So, that was it, the man her sister liked... OK, a definite charm, not bad looking, and human, tried hard to keep a conversation going, nice. Devoted, attentionate. She could see why her sister had this... "weakness"? for him... She understood, she herself could easily... oh, well....

Thunderbolt II - Dr. Seeze

I met her, not at all what I had pictured, something clicked, both ways, a thunderbolt of a sort or another. A certain quickness, interest, leanness, directness, the blondness and the blue eyes. Liveliness, professional but human. Maybe fun. Not a beauty, no, but something (charm, probably, yes). A classic type for me, I recognized it but even later it remained unclear. She acknowledged it, though, I could tell...

I tried to look at her legs as she walked away, could not, did not, or I do not remember, thin, yes. A kind of veil or mist, fog, over things, memory included. A surprise, in a way. Unexpected.

Tadzin n'hagar

Touarem ti n'hagat ashagi podiem t'khar -- tadzin n'hagar.
They who are marked by death rise above all -- death pervades.

Too long to discuss, minimalist philosophy as the basis of all building or rebuilding of moral codes, life philosophy, etc... Probably a touch of existentialism or post-existentialism, at least a la Camus.
