Upside down world

As I am getting ready for work today, I hear the news that in Japan the day is already over (and their stock market did whatever). Now, I have nothing against the Japanese who have been working hard as can be and thriving (it is even moral, one could say, that hard work be rewarded), but what is the world coming to, and how do you want me to feel like going to work in this depressed economy, with the budget cuts, the layoffs, etc., if even the Japanese stop working before I have started my day?

Global village, global recession, one would have hoped for a little help from our friends and their staying at work just like we do instead of going home when we are on our way there... Depressing!

And while I am glad that the young Germans don't want to make war any more, I am not as glad to know the Japanese go home when I go to work (even if it is better than going to war, I know). It still is an upside down world, no doubt (and it's not over yet). (and, yes, I also know I should not complain, I still have a job...)
